Welcome to Manavlok College of Social Science

Historical Perspective

In the early 1970s, a socialist group of youth began seeking solutions to social and political problems of the rural community with the general aim of achieving a harmony society and fullness of life. After nearly 20 years of effort and agitations, they concluded that socio-political change was not possible without economic change. With this point of view in mind, they established MANAVLOK (Marathwada Navnirman Lokayat) in 1982, a voluntary organization for the socio-economic upliftment of the rural poor.

Manavlok is continuously engaged in implementation of various activities and programmes for the upliftment of the rural community. It provides need based services to the people with their participation. The ongoing activities are Watershed development programme, Krushak Panchayat, Assistance for Old age, Know your customer programme, Women empowerment Programmes, Shelter Home, Free Legal Aid Centre, entrepreneurship development programme for women, Gender Sensitization etc.

To impart the quality education in Social Work and prepare competent social worker for intervention in rural area, Manavlok has started College of Social Work which imparts professional Social Work education at post graduation level (MSW). The college is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and recognized by UGC under Section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC act 1956. The college is aided by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of Maharashtra.
